Weather, water and stone have always found their way into my work. This series follows that thread — landforms, coastlines and the shifting patterns of weather, translated into cloth.
These pieces began with weather maps — the hottest day on record ahead of the Victorian bushfires, and the cold snap that sent flooding rains through Grafton once again. There’s a strange beauty in a weather system rendered as pure pattern, long before you remember what it actually did to the people living through it.
The Brisbane River and its surrounding coastline appear again and again in this body of work. Maps become more than navigation here — they’re a record of memory and place, redrawn in thread.
Australia’s inland watercourses tell a different story. People often think of the outback as simply land, but its lifeblood runs through Artesian springs and rivers that shape everything around them — a pattern nature makes that no human hand could replicate.
The opalesence of stone under pressure, mother nature presents an extensive palette.
