My portrait practice has grown from early explorations completed in masterclasses — including a stitched portrait of my son created under the guidance of Kathryn Harmer Fox, and a self-portrait developed in a workshop with Danish textile artist Dorte Jensen. These formative works shaped my interest in character, narrative, and expressive mark-making in cloth.
Building on those foundations, my current portrait series focuses on strong, compelling women whose stories have shaped the worlds of creativity, science, sport, and social change. Painted in acrylic inks and rendered in a gently naïve, stylised manner, each portrait uses colour, line, and texture to convey personality and presence. Through this evolving series, I aim to honour remarkable women, amplify their stories, and celebrate the individuality that makes each face so visually and emotionally engaging.
